Zinc stared down at the box of chocolates. Heart shaped box, white ribbon tied elegantly around it. Surely he was joking.
As he felt those heavy arms wrap around his shoulders, he knew there was no joke to be found here.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Carrageenan cooed, grinning.
Zinc arched an eyebrow. “You know I dislike this holiday,” he muttered back.
“You dislike every holiday,” the red headed general replied. He had his face turned just enough so he could better pick up the blue haired man’s wonderful smell. “So much, in fact, that you tend to stay in your room on holidays so we can’t pester you, but this time I have you beat.”
“Carrageenan-“
“I covered your bed in stuffed animals.”
“You what?”
“Today, being alone is not allowed. And since you won’t let me keep you company, you’ll have them. Lucky devils.”
“Carrageenan, you-“
“And roses. Roses were a must, of course.”
“Carrie.”
“And candles, next to your bath, because knowing you, that’s going to be the excuse you use to get away from any sort of holiday celebrating. ‘I can’t have fun, I have to wash my hair.’”
“Carrie.”
“You know, you only use that nickname when you’re willing to put out.” The red haired general was beaming, expecting Zinc to elbow him in the gut, to flush and shout at him, call him a perverted idiot and all the things he always did when Carrageenan teased him.
Zinc flushed alright.
And then smiled.
“Carrie,” he said again.
The red headed general’s mind fizzled and stopped working for a full minute.
“That is so hot.”
“Shut up before you ruin the mood.”
“’Kay. Can we traumatize some stuffed animals now?”

And that is how Carrie and Zinc spend their Valentine's Day.
