Keep You Warm

Taylan hated water.

Why he’d chosen to spend the evening with a fish was beyond him.

Well. Last few evenings, actually.

Last month.

The longer his mind dwelled on it, the less it made sense. What made even less sense was that he’d agreed to accompany the damn fish to the water’s edge to go swimming.

He hated water.

Soliel was already undressing when the water’s reflective surface came into view, shirt coming off in a flash to reveal muscles that put his own to shame. Taylan knew that despite the merman coming to shore and spending so much time with him, Sol missed being in the water. Maybe it was the guilt that Taylan was the reason Sol stayed out of the water that had finally gotten to him. Sol was giving up so much for him, he could give up a little in return.

Even so, he remained clothed, hunched, and feeling quite reluctant as he watched Soliel slip into the water, legs becoming tail fin, his entire body submerging with a joy that only came when one returned home. He was under the water a few moments before he surfaced again, spraying water as he did so. The red head blinked up at Taylan, tilting his head.

“Come on, Tay,” he called. “You said you’d swim with me!”

Taylan crossed his arms more tightly. “I’ll get my clothes wet,” he said, any reason to stall.

“Then take them off.”

“…It looks cold.”

“I’ll keep you warm.”

Taylan’s ears flattened uncertainly, blushing slightly. Then, one by one, his articles of clothing were taken off and he made his way to the water, dipping a foot in.

Eyes widened.

“ABSOLUTELY NOT! IT’S FREEZING IN-“

He wasn’t able to finish the sentence. Hell, he wasn’t even able to get his foot out before a hand shot out and grabbed him by the wrist. Within less than a second, he was fully submerged under water, the cold biting into his skin and water getting into his ears and-

He scrambled to the surface, gasping for air. His ears laid back, his tail a sopping mess pulled high to let the water drip off of it. “You moron!” he shouted to the red form swimming around him just underneath the surface. “You know I’m not a good swimmer! I can’t believe you would-“

The words died as Sol surfaced.

Warm hands sliding up his arms, the ever constant playful smile, curious and penetrating gaze. And lips. Wonderful, soft, delicious lips pressing against his own.

Taylan conceded that Soliel was very good at keeping him warm.
